Women Powered by Withings

As we approach the 50th Boston 10K for Women, our sponsor Withings will recognize 10 amazing athletes that reflect the courage, determination, and passion of our running community. We hope this ongoing blog series will introduce some new and familiar faces, and inspire you on your 10K journey.

It stuck. In 2012, just weeks after completing her first 5K, she took a leap and lined up at the Boston 10K for Women (then the Tufts 10K). Around that same time, she joined Runkeeper—and what followed was, in her words, “losing her mind in the best way.”

Within a year, Sam went from the couch to 200-mile relays, triathlons, and a full embrace of running as a joyful, transformative force in her life.

For the past nine years, Sam has run at least one mile every single day—through snowstorms, travel days, airports, and everything in between. More than 5,000 laps around her block. Some miles fast, most simply consistent. Each one a commitment to showing up.

Running has carried her through life’s highest highs and hardest moments—building a company, navigating the uncertainty of COVID, celebrating milestones, and grieving the loss of her father to cancer. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: she keeps moving forward.

Sam has now run the Boston 10K for Women every year since that first start line in 2012. What began as a personal challenge has become a deeply meaningful tradition—one that celebrates strength, connection, and the power of women coming together.

As co-founder of Ompractice, she’s helped over 75,000 people move more mindfully, with a mission to reach one million. Her philosophy is simple: small, consistent steps can create lasting change.

This October, Sam returns once again—running not just for herself, but for community, for purpose, and for the belief that showing up, mile after mile, is where real transformation begins.
