Women Powered by Withings
As we approach the 50th Boston 10K for Women, our sponsor Withings will recognize 10 amazing athletes that reflect the courage, determination, and passion of our running community. We hope this ongoing blog series will introduce some new and familiar faces, and inspire you on your 10K journey.
McKenzie Ward’s running journey didn’t begin with confidence—it began with a challenge.
In March 2025, just a few months into her weight loss journey, McKenzie set a goal that once felt impossible: run a 5K. She still remembered struggling to complete a single mile in high school gym class, unsure if she’d ever be capable of going farther.
But instead of letting doubt win, she made a plan.
With determination and consistency, McKenzie committed to training, building both her physical strength and her mental resilience step by step. By May, she crossed the finish line of her very first 5K—proving to herself that she was capable of more than she had ever believed.
And that was just the beginning.
That October, McKenzie ran the Boston 10K for Women alongside a close friend—an experience that would redefine what running meant to her. As she crossed the bridge, she was met with something powerful: runners ahead cheering on those still coming through.
At that moment, she realized running isn’t just an individual sport—it’s a community. A space where women lift each other up, celebrate one another, and find strength together.
Since then, McKenzie has continued to push her limits, completing a 4-miler, a half marathon, and another 5K. With every race, she’s grown stronger—not just physically, but mentally.
For McKenzie, running is no longer just exercise. It’s time dedicated to her growth, her confidence, and her belief in what’s possible.
