Women Powered by Withings
As we approach the 50th Boston 10K for Women, our sponsor Withings will recognize 10 amazing athletes that reflect the courage, determination, and passion of our running community. We hope this ongoing blog series will introduce some new and familiar faces, and inspire you on your 10K journey.
Lily Wetherington didn’t start running for competition—she started running to heal.
Living in Hope, Maine, Lily was navigating anxiety that brought on heart palpitations and tachycardia. Searching for a way to cope, she turned to running—not knowing it would transform her life in ways she never imagined.
What began as a tool to manage her health quickly became a source of strength, confidence, and clarity. With each step, Lily discovered not only a sense of control, but a deeper connection to herself and the world around her.
Running opened doors she hadn’t expected.
Through the sport, Lily found community—people who showed up for one another, encouraged each other, and ran with purpose. Inspired by that collective energy, she began channeling her miles into meaningful impact, raising nearly $15,000 for causes close to her heart, including Tina’s Wish, an ovarian cancer research foundation.
Her journey brought her to the Boston 10K for Women—twice. Each time, the race became more than just a run; it was a celebration of resilience, health, and the power of women coming together.
For Lily, running is no longer just about managing anxiety—it’s about honoring her health and using it to make a difference.
This October, she hopes to return once again, continuing a journey rooted in gratitude, purpose, and connection.
Because for Lily, every mile is a reminder: strength can grow from struggle, and something small can lead to something extraordinary.
