New for the 2019 Boston 10K for Women, we are pleased to introduce you to a group of fun, strong, creative, and powerful women that you should know. They are our Official Race Ambassadors!
Hi! I’m Cassie Shortsleeve — I’m a freelance health writer based in Boston. I write for many of the major health magazines such as Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Shape, Women’s Running, Furthermore for Equinox, Men’s Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, and more. I also am a new mom to my daughter Sunday, born in June, and am excited to get back to one of my biggest loves: running!
What is your favorite distance to race?
Half marathon! It gives you something to work toward but doesn’t take over your life. 🙂
What is your favorite post-race meal?
When I lived in the city, the Hot and Cold Chicken Salad at Parish Cafe on Boylston (a must for anyone visiting Boston!).
What’s the best training advice you have ever received?
Listen to your body. Injuries grow if you ignore them and it’s better to miss a few training runs or workouts to let your body heal than completely derail your work because you didn’t take time for rehab and recovery.
What’s the best race-day advice you’ve ever received?
Nothing new on race day!
