Runner Stories

Emily Sisson and Michaela Flaherty

Michaela Flaherty

This race is important to me because it has been something that I do every year. It shows that women are strong and can do anything they put their mind to with hard work. Having a visual impairment it shows that everyone can do anything they want as long as they never give up. I want to stop the stigma that people who have visual impairment or a disability can’t do the same things as a normal person. I want people to see that we are normal people and not people just with disabilities.

Everyone has bad days but you should never give up because you can accomplish anything you want as long as you are strong and determine to accomplish that goal.
