Several years ago I was dealing with chronic migraine and fibromyalgia. I had to take several naps to get through a normal day of activity. I wouldn’t have dreamed of running.
In the Spring of 2017 I thought it would be fun to run a 5K with friends and started training for one in August—little did I know I’d be hooked! Now I train three days a week and am constantly improving my time. I’m very thankful for better health that allows me to run. The pain of running is nothing compared to a migraine, but dealing with illness helped me learn to listen to my body.
I like to run to a very specific music album that is a concert by New Order; people are always cheering on the band but I pretend they’re cheering me on!
I am super psyched to hit my goal of 10K in the company of other women and I see it as a stepping stone to a half marathon.
